AUBC League Purpose and Goal

The Purpose of the AUBC league is to bring people together, celebrate friendship, and include everyone, no matter their skill level. Whether you want to play for fun or competitively, this league is for you. It’s designed to be fair and enjoyable for all, with divisions to ensure games are competitive and fun. We’ve assessed players to place them in the right division, making sure everyone has a good time. The Goal of the AUBC League is to help players get better at badminton, strengthen our community, and enhance both competitive and casual play. We want to make badminton more fun and give everyone something to look forward to as they see their skills improve through rankings.

Who Can Participate

All members and non members of AUBC are welcome to join, but an assessment is required beforehand to be e able to join the league. This assessment will determine which “pool” the player belongs to. 

Registration and Fees

AUBC is a non-profit club, so we charge a small fee for joining the leagues. All the money collected will help fund our end-of-year party, which is a highlight for all members. The more people join the leagues, the less everyone has to contribute towards the party. The amount of $7 each player will be collected for joining the Club League which includes the shuttles to be used and if we reach 40 plus participants we will provide free energy drinks and energy snacks. Additional points will be rewarded for our Year end celebrations on Theme of Festivities.

Format and Rules

Pool Divisions: Players will be placed into pools based on an initial skill assessment.

Footwear: Only non-marking shoes are permitted on the court.

Theme of Festivities: Show your spirit! Wear your best themed attire (Badminton Friendly)

Shuttlecock: Official shuttlecocks are Mavis 300 or 350 Nylon.

Umpire: The fifth player in rotation will act as the umpire for each game.

Umpire Authority: The umpire’s decisions are final.

Scoring

Games are played to 25 points (no deuce).

Players change court sides when one player reaches 13 points.

Mini-Event Prizes

Participate in mini-events for a chance to win fun prizes!

Sponsored Prizes: Keep an eye out for special events with (if there are) sponsored prizes.

Get Featured: Players with the Perfect Score will be featured on our AUBC Facebook page and receive a Certificate of Recognition for the monthly League. 

Year End Awarding

The players who will be placed as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th on a combined pool will be awarded on our Year end Celebrations. 

Ranking System

Wins: Each win earns 1 point. Wins determine the primary ranking.

Total Points: Used as a tiebreaker if multiple players have the same number of wins on the ranking.
